Boo-Boo White is a fictional character appearing in the Ruby Gloom franchise. He is depicted as Gloom Manor's resident ghost whose job is to scare his roommates. Much to his mentors' chagrin, however, Boo-Boo enjoys pranking more than scaring.

"I love scaring everyone and anyone! My favorite thing to do is coming up with new pranks and ways to catch my friends off guard (the look on Scaredy Bat's face is priceless). Because, being a ghost, that's what I do! I think I'm pretty good at it, too; but that's because I really apply myself. And for the record, I'm not cute! Grrr..."

"Boo-Boo is the annoying little rascal of a ghost who is constantly trying to frighten everyone in the house. Unfortunately he is so darn cute that he is not to successful at scaring anyone. He is like a pesky little brother who likes to push everyone's buttons and is constantly looking for an opportunity to pull a prank."

History

When he first arrives at the mansion, Boo-Boo isn't an official ghost in that he can't phase through walls and only cats, psychics, and "crazy street preachers" can see him. According to the Whites, Boo-Boo can't become a full ghost until he successfully scares someone. But since Boo-Boo can go through walls and Doom Kitty is the only one in the house who can see him, his job is next to impossible. However, when Doom Kitty splashes milk on him to reveal his presence, Boo-Boo gets an unexpected scare out of Misery when he almost splashes milk onto a tablecloth owned by Misery's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandmother. Apparently, it's enough of a scare for Boo-Boo to become a full fledged ghost, since he can now phase through walls and everyone can now see him. After that though, his only real motivation for staying in the mansion has been to torture Scaredy Bat, as he hasn't been able to scare anyone else since.

Physical appearance

Boo-Boo is a small ghost with blue eyes with a green sclera, and dark green eyelids and eyebags. He has pink blush, and his ghostly design includes a sprout of ectoplasmic "hair" and a tail.

Personality

Despite his job as a scarer, Boo-Boo serves as more of a prank-happy nuisance than a menace. He seems to be good friends with Scaredy Bat, despite Scaredy being his main victim.

• Boo-Boo only has speaking roles in 11 of the 18 episodes he appeared in; seven of these were only in the opening or closing sketches.
• He despises being called cute.
• He likes to write down every scare he has made in his notepad as revealed in "Missing Buns".
• In the short "Secret Shutterbug," he hates when people ruin his pranks.
• Boo-Boo had been scared/pranked a few times:
  • He got scared after seeing Scaredy Bat come out from under the rocking chair in "Lessons in Being a Ghost Part 1: Scare Tactics."
  • In "Shaken, Not Scared," Mr. White and Mr. White prank Boo-Boo by having soda sprayed on him.
  • In the same episode near the end, Doom Kitty scared Boo-Boo by sneaking up behind him while covered in red paint.
  • Mr. Buns scared Boo-Boo with an air horn in "Pulling Pranks with Boo-Boo."

• Even after becoming a real ghost and being able to go through walls, he can still touch/be touched.
• Boo-Boo, along with Mr. Buns, are the only characters with two different descriptions on rubygloom.com and rubygloomtv.com. The rest of the cast have their same descriptions on both websites.
• In the Ruby Gloom books and early artwork, Boo-Boo was originally in a trio called "The Three Ghosts" and was one of the ghosts. The other two were named Dumdum and Cranky.
  • His personality was also different. He used to be the kindest among the three ghosts and a "goody-two-shoes" instead of being a prankster.
  • He also had a red tongue instead of blue.
• Boo-Boo has scared other people besides Scaredy Bat. That being Ruby, Iris, Misery, Frank & Len (Doom With A View) Misery (Missing Buns), The Whites (Shaken, Not Scared), Gunther, and Uta (Ubergloom).
• Because he is made up of ectoplasm, he can morph into different shapes, and be stretched.
