The moon is a recurring character on Ruby Gloom. She always shows up in the sky at night, and watches Ruby and the gang's many adventures and activities from up above. The moon has two sides, one which is a light gray, and the other side a dark blue, known as "the dark side"; both of the sides each have one face. While she mostly doesn't talk, her voice varies throughout the series, whether it be in a deep voice whenever she yawns, or in a high-pitched voice when she laughs in "Broken Records".

She plays a significant role in the episode "Out of This World", in which the mansion - along with Ruby, Skull Boy, Iris, Misery, Doom Kitty, and Scaredy Bat - ends up floating up to her when it goes to space. The house almost gets eaten by her because of her teeth chattering, due to her being scared of the mansion flying up close to her. When the house ends up getting stuck in her mouth, she ends up sneezing it out. Soon afterwards, the house starts orbiting around her for a long time, causing her to get annoyed, then tired, then nauseous as it goes on.

She is also known for singing the theme song, in which her voice is provided by Jeen O'Brien.
