Doom Vs. Kat
Story: For a long time, Coop Burtonburger, and his alien nemesis, Kat, have been locked in a battle between good and evil in Bootsville, as Coop risked everything he can to keep Kat from destroying all of mankind with his evil alien army. But now, after the aftermath of Kat’s latest plan failing resulted in the mysterious and untraceable disappearance of Coop Burtonburger, leading many to believe he might be dead or Kat has a clear shot at the fruition of his plans for world domination. Without Coop, his friends have no hope of preventing the cat invasion...or so they thought. Around the same time Coop disappears, Doom Kitty, the pet companion of Ruby Gloom, is having her own little vacation from Gloomsville...in Bootsville. She is sheltered by The Burtonburgers as their temporary pet. At first, Doom thought her vacation is gonna be a normal one, but when she learns that the Burtonburgers’ other cat is actually an evil alien, thanks to a device made by Coop prior to his disappearance that contains every memory and recollection of Kat’s evil for in case something happened to him, Doom Kitty immediately realizes that now that she knows what Kat really is, the entire fate of the world, and her friends and family, now rests in her tiny, furry, black paws, because now, she must help Coop's friends find a way to stop Kat and whatever he might be planning and show them that a chance at being a better kitten is a better gift to offer than insults and belittlement.
CHARACTERS
Doom Kitty
A small, mysterious, black cat and the main hero of the story.
Nobody is entirely sure what Doom was before she became Ruby Gloom’s pet. It is pretty obvious that she was part of a very special breed of cat which was the same name as Doom herself. But there aren't any other records about her or her kind. It is assumed that she is some kind of 500 year old mythical creature, an alien from another planet or the last remaining part of a breed that may have gone extinct years ago. Whatever she is, she seems to be quite a mystery. As the pet resident of Gloom Manor, Doom has free run of the manor and gets every strange thing figured out before her friends could. She is also incredibly clever and intelligent and can come up with useful solutions to risky problems. Doom is currently taking a vacation in Bootsville, not because she is asked to, but because she needs to stretch her legs and her tail and spend some time away from the dark, but positive fun in Gloomsville, unaware that what awaits her is an adventure that might force her to extend her vacation for a little while.
Kat
An evil alien cat and the main villain of the story
To the world, Kat looks like a normal, hairless, bug-eyed animal. But in truth, he is actually an evil sociopathic cybernetic alien menace bent on world domination. Because of the overgrowing excessive waste on his planet, Kat Nebula, Kat was sent by his leader, The Kat Kommander, to conquer the planet so that his kind could move to Earth. However, when he was adopted by the Burtonburger family, Kat maintains his cover as a normal housepet while also adhering to his mission to make the Earth more habitable for the Kat Nebulans. Kat has tried to conquer the world countless times, but, Unfortunately for him, the only thing standing between him and the completion of his mission is Coop Burtonburger, who has thwarted him every time. But now, with Coop nowhere to be found after a disaster resulting from their latest battle, there doesn’t seem to be anyone around to stop Kat from turning the entire Earth into the Kat Nebulans’ own personal litter box...but he seems to think wrong when his newest enemy shows up in Bootsville.
Coop Burtonburger
Kat’s arch nemesis
For as long as he can remember, Coop’s life has been turned upside-down ever since Kat became part of his family. Going from a normal 12-year-old kid to unlikely savior of the world, it’s been Coop’s mission to make sure that Kat does not succeed in his plans to conquer mankind. He knows that Kat is an evil alien and has tried countless times to tell the world what he really is, but the evidence always ends up destroyed and Coop is made a laughing stock. But he never gave up. Coop would not rest until the planet Earth is aware of Kat’s evil and is safe from a future of an interstellar KATastrophe. However, when Coop’s latest victory ends with him mysteriously disappearing, the entire world is left defenseless without him. Because of this, Coop doesn’t make much of a large appearance in the story. However, Coop has anticipated this, for he has copied and stored his memories of every battle he’s had with Kat onto a memory containment unit, so that if anything would ever happen to him, someone would find the device, gain his copied memories and fight against Kat in his place. And lucky for him, someone did, but not the kind of person he expected.
Dennis Chan
Coop’s best friend and Doom’s human partner
Dennis is one of the only people other than Coop, Fiona, Lorne and Harley that know of Kat’s alien origin. Of course, when Dennis found out, he made up a few theories about what Kat could be, before confirming that Kat is an alien. He has assisted and backed Coop in smashing up every one of Kat’s evil plots...and most of the time helped Kat and Coop take on challenges bigger than what they are focused on. Despite his and Coop’s dads’ rivalry, Coop and Dennis always had each other’s backs. But now, with Coop missing, Dennis is left to fight Kat on his own, and his first time doing that didn’t go so well. Lucky for him, someone just showed up to help him do it better.
Fiona Munson
Old Lady Munson’s niece and Coop’s love interest
Fiona isn’t anything like her aunt. She is willing to return anything that lands in OLM’s yard. When Coop first met her, he fell in love with her, and Fiona helped him stop Kat when she found out that Kat is an evil alien...which ended with her aunt’s house getting destroyed and Fiona ending up spending a little bit of time in juvenile detention, a mistake that caused the escalation of a feud between Fiona’s mother and Old Lady Munson. Fiona still visits her though, and helps Coop when Kat is up to no good. Fiona accidentally lost her memory of Kat’s alien origin, but Coop managed to help her remember...by spending 2 weeks rebuilding Kat’s de-memorizer ray and restoring Fiona, Lorne and Harley’s memories, but not Millie’s, for her own safety. However, since Coop is missing and people are currently searching for them, Fiona and Dennis don’t have anyone to back them against Kat’s maniacal machinations...until now.
Millie Burtonburger
Coop’s spoiled little sister and Kat’s owner
Spoiled and prideful, Millie can be more than just some little girl. She can also be pretty tough and intimidating when people don’t respect her right, even if it means bugging and sometimes humiliating her older brother, Coop. She can be a real scream when she doesn’t get what she wants...literally. She is also Kat’s owner, unaware of his alien origin until she went to his home planet, but said that she loves him whether he is an alien or not. Despite that, Kat erased her memory to keep her safe, knowing that she would get seriously hurt in Kat and Coop’s brutal clashes with each other. Coop understood that and left her memory untouched when he restored the others. Millie is upset that Coop disappeared without saying goodbye. but is grateful she won’t have to put up with him for a while.
Burt Burtonburger
Coop and Millie’s father
As the father of the Burtonburger household, Burt always tries to make sure there is peace between his relatives, which is always not easy because of Coop and Kat’s feud. Their conflict always stresses him out, and makes his entire family look like a fool to all of Bootsville. He owns a pawn shop, or trade store, if you will, called The House of Swap. Burt doesn’t seem to get time for peace with what is going on with his family. And after Kat and Coop’s latest battle results in another lead-up to collateral damage, which also led to Coop’s disappearance, Burt has the cops searching for him, wondering where he could be. However, on the bright side, Burt thought he might get some legit peace and quiet in the Burtonburger household without Kat or Coop at each other’s throats. But that all changes when he temporarily adopts and houses a vacationing Doom Kitty...and ends up accidentally starting a whole new adventure.
Old Lady Munson
The Burtonburgers’ cranky next-door neighbor and Burt’s nemesis
Scary and vicious, Old Lady Munson is the kind of senior citizen that you do NOT want to mess with. Growing up next door to her, Burt has despised and known her his whole life. She is practically his worst nightmare. Whenever anything lands in Munson’s yard, she will take it and lock it away in her shed. And she won’t hesitate to make an example out of Burt OR Coop whenever they get in trouble for something done by either them or Kat. She does like Millie, however, and means no harm to her. Because of her serious dislike for Coop, she thought that his disappearance from Bootsville wouldn’t mean he won’t be a problem anymore. But when Doom comes to Bootsville for a not-so-normal vacation, she finds history only repeating itself.
Phoebe Del Toro
Millie’s rival and Coop’s romantic nightmare
Phoebe’s fame and fortune aren’t the only key traits she has in her life. She also has this lovesick overly-obsessive infatuation with Coop Burtonburger. Nobody knows why, but Phoebe seems to love Coop with all her heart, but she creeps him out. She is devastated that Coop is currently missing after his latest battle with Kat. She even started her own blog to get people to inform her of what clues they might get of his whereabouts.
Ruby Gloom
Doom Kitty’s owner and best friend and the happiest girl in the world.
Despite spending her life growing up around monsters and strange creatures, Ruby always sees a positive outlook on every scary thing in the world. Cheerful and optimistic, Ruby can always motivate others to see the bright side of things when they are feeling down or depressed. Her mantra is “always look on the bright side of the dark side”. Ruby is a believer in inspiration, happiness and redemption, thinking that no matter how big the possible evil is, she can always plant a good seed in their black heart, and her friends can, too. Ruby doesn’t technically make a physical appearance in the story, though she is mentioned a few times. She actually allowed Doom Kitty to take a vacation away from Gloomsville, since she feels that at least one of her friends could see a lot more positivity in the world. But what Ruby doesn’t realize is that where Doom is going, there isn’t technically a lot of positivity there, but instead, there is actually the start of a mission to redeem the worst evil...in the entire world.
Lorne And Harley
Sibling filmmakers
Lorne and Harley love nothing more than to record stuff with their camera and make movies about them. Their most popular videos were about Coop and his belief that Kat is an evil alien, which is straight-up true. This earned Coop the name “Catboy”, which he doesn’t seem to mind after it is used once too often. Lorne and Harley soon found out Kat was right, but thought Coop never knew this. They temporarily had their memories erased, but Coop managed to help restore them. Now, they help Coop by trying to catch video or photographic proof that Coop was right, which always ends horribly as the evidence always gets erased. But with Coop M.I.A., Lorne and Harley didn’t just lose their friend, they also lost their star, since Coop’s antics are what makes them so popular. But it seems that they won’t have to worry about that for long.
LOCATIONS
Bootsville
Home of The Burtonburger family and the central location of the story.
Founded years ago by a traveler named LeBoot, who fought off mosquitoes with only his boot, Bootsville, a normal suburban town packed with many must-see attractions, is also a battleground in a never-ending battle between good and evil. The town nearly gets destroyed daily in Coop and Kat’s vicious battles. There are many iconic locations in Bootsville, including Coop’s house, Old Lady Munson’s yard, The House of Swap, Bootsville Elementary and the Skate Park. Coop is determined to defend his hometown, and the world, from all of Kat’s evil. But with Coop currently missing, Bootsville seems unknowingly vulnerable to the threat of invasion...but not for long.
Gloomsville
The hometown of Ruby Gloom and Doom Kitty and their friends
Modeled in the form of a victorian-era town, Gloomsville was long founded by Ruby’s ancestor, which explains the name and would make her a very famous individual in the town, and has been home to many strange creatures and monsters. The most iconic location of Gloomsville is Gloom Manor, where Ruby and her friends live. Gloomsville doesn’t technically appear in the novel, but it is mentioned. Doom Kitty has temporarily left Gloomsville for a little getaway, which ends up being a little longer than expected, when Doom discovers that the town she’s staying in also has a really, not-so-friendly, strange little creature of the town’s own...and is considered a threat to not just this town, but the entire world as well.
Kat Nebula
Kat’s home planet and the enemy planet of Earth
Kat Nebula is the major threat of the world. Populated by a race of alien felines, this planet, like the other 4 planets they lived on, has suffered a major deal of pollution and completely ravaged the planet’s ecosystem. So the planet’s ruler, The Kat Kommander, sent Kat to Earth to prepare it for the invasion so that they could move to it. However, Kat’s efforts have always been prevented by Coop Burtonburger and his friends, branding them as fugitives and criminals, unaware that Kat Nebula itself is the real threat. Despite its beliefs, Kat Nebula is considered a threat by the galaxy’s law supreme, The Interstellar Council, but they never intervened because they think that getting involved with an enemy planet indiscriminately could lead to war, which it can. But that’s not the point. Kat Nebula and its people thought that invading Earth would be easy, now that Coop’s out of the way. However, they did not count on the Earth having its very own feline warrior.
